What We Offer
In-Home Care Services in Central & Northern Virginia
One on One Care provides five kinds of non-medical in-home care: personal care, companion care, specialized care for conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, respite care for family caregivers, and Medicaid CCC Plus waiver care. Every service is delivered by screened, background-checked caregivers and built around a care plan for the individual person — we've worked this way since Charles Murray founded the company in 1998.
What is personal care?
Personal care is hands-on, non-medical help with the activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and moving safely around the home. It's for adults and seniors who want to stay home but need steady physical support with daily routines.
What is companion care?
Companion care is support and company rather than hands-on care: conversation, shared meals, errands, light housekeeping, and a consistent friendly presence. It suits seniors who are mostly independent but spend too much of the day alone.
What is specialized care?
Specialized care is trained, consistent support for people living with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, or recovering from a stroke. Clients are matched with caregivers experienced in their specific condition, with routines built for safety and familiarity.
What is respite care?
Respite care gives family caregivers a real break. If you provide daily care for a parent or spouse, our caregivers can step in for a few hours a week, a full day, or longer stretches — so you can rest, work, or travel knowing your loved one is in good hands. Respite visits use the same screened caregivers as our other services, and respite is also covered for Medicaid CCC Plus waiver clients. Call us and tell us what you need.
What is Medicaid CCC Plus waiver care?
We're a registered Virginia Medicaid provider for Personal Care and Respite Care under the CCC Plus waiver, and for the DD Waiver. Qualifying clients receive in-home care funded by Medicaid — with the same caregivers our private-pay families receive.
How do private pay and long-term care insurance work?
Many of our clients pay privately — as a family-owned agency without franchise fees, our rates stay competitive, and there are no long-term contracts. Long-term care insurance policies also commonly cover non-medical personal care like ours, and we can help you understand what your policy requires. See the payment questions on our FAQ page or contact us for a straightforward quote.

Questions about our services
Here are the questions families ask most about what each service covers and how care is paid for. If you don't find what you need, we're always happy to talk.
Call (540) 288-1300Personal care is hands-on, non-medical help with the activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and moving safely around the home. It's for adults and seniors who want to stay in their own homes but need a steady, respectful hand with daily routines. Caregivers can also help with meals and light housekeeping during visits.
Companion care is support and company rather than hands-on care: conversation, meals, errands, light housekeeping, and a consistent friendly presence. It's a good fit for seniors who are mostly independent but spend too much time alone, and it gives out-of-town family peace of mind that someone dependable is checking in.
Respite care gives family caregivers a real break. If you're the one providing daily care for a parent or spouse, our caregivers can step in for a few hours a week, a full day, or longer stretches, so you can rest, work, travel, or simply catch your breath — knowing your loved one is in good hands.
No. One on One Care provides non-medical personal care — help with daily living, not clinical treatment. We don't administer medication, give injections, or provide skilled nursing. If your loved one needs medical care at home, we're glad to work alongside a home health or hospice provider.
Yes. One on One Care serves Medicaid CCC Plus waiver clients throughout our Virginia service area, and we've helped many families work through the process. If you're not sure whether your loved one qualifies, or you're partway through an application, call us — we'll explain how it works in plain terms.
In most cases, yes — long-term care insurance policies commonly cover non-medical personal care like ours.
